The Railyard Condos in Downtown Austin

You are living right. Congratulations on picking arguably the best location in downtown Austin.

The condominium complex where you will be staying is known as the Railyard Condominiums.  There are two buildings (there used to be six but the Convention Center now occupies the other four). The addresses are 201 and 301 E. 4th Street, Austin, Texas 78701. If your unit number starts with the #2, you are staying in 201 E. 4th Street.  If your unit number starts with the #3, you are staying in 301 E. 4th Street.

Checking In/Out of Your Digs

Check-in time is at 3PM. Check-out time is 11am. If we are able to assist, we will do our best to accommodate early/late requests, when/if available within an hour of the standard times. For longer extensions, we encourage guests to book additional nights. Please keep in mind that we generally have guests staying the night before or after your stay. We operate similarly to a hotel, so we may receive a booking at any time. Please respect our established times so that we may continue providing a higher level of service for all of our guests.

Entry Gate
The gate code to enter the complex was provided with your unique door code. If you need that information again, please reference the email that was sent. Please note that we are unable to provide door codes over the phone or via text for your security.  You can use this access code to enter any of the pedestrian gates in both buildings (10 total), and once you are in the unit, you will find a clicker to open the gate in the parking area. This provides access to your private, covered, and gated parking space.

Door Entry
We eliminated the need for keys with a fancy automated lock system. We assign a unique door entry code to each and every reservation, which you can share with any guests in your group. This code will only be active during your stay, and will never be shared outside of the email we sent you. Please note that if your guests want to access the space, they will need to have the code you have been provided. We also ask that please provide us with a list of all authorized guests on each reservation. Please note: For security purposes, we will not share this code with your guests if they call/email us asking.

Parking
If you are bringing a car, you have one assigned parking space. The clicker to access the parking garage is on the counter when you check in.  It is a grey-colored key fob. Please be sure to park in your assigned space, which was provided in the email with all instructions. All other spots are privately owned, so please do not park in them or you will be at risk of being towed. If you need extra parking, please call us to see if we can accommodate any extra cars. Otherwise, you can use the metered street parking, or use the Marriott valet across the street. We cannot be held responsible for your vehicle during your stay, so please be sure to park in the correct space, remove all valuables, and lock your ride.

Key Amenities
“All of the little touches made everything come together so perfectly.” – Sam

We work hard to make sure you that you have all of the necessary items to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable. If we have missed something, please let us know as soon as possible. Here are the necessary details for everything we could think of regarding the condos.

WIFI
The building has WiFi throughout the entire complex, and the network is called Railyard.  The password is cedarlofts. You need to login to your favorite browser to prompt the login screen.

TV/Cable
The condo free cable television.  There is at least one TV in the living room, and some spaces have TV in the bedrooms as well.  They all have remote controls.  Everything should be fairly straightforward, but if you have any issues, we are here to help.

Dishwasher
There is a dishwasher in the kitchen, and detergent under the kitchen sink.  However, you must flip a switch next to the sink to operate the appliance.

Laundry
You are welcome to use the washer/dryer in the unit, and some laundry detergent and fabric softener has been provided for your stay.  Please be sure to clean the filter in the dryer in between loads to make sure it is operating as efficiently as possible.

Thermostat
The thermostat controls are not difficult, but it is a touch screen, so please be gentle with it.  The first thing to note is that the fan should be set to “Auto” when you check in.  Please do not change this to “On” or the fan will blow 24/7.  If you accidentally change it, please tap the word “On” to switch it back.  If that does not work, press the menu button on the bottom right corner and then touch the “On” button.  The mode should automatically be set so that all you need to do is turn the temperature up and down with the two arrows on the right hand side.  PLEASE NOTE: If you turn the AC below 68 degrees in the Texas heat, it will not get there and will freeze the unit.  We ask you not to do this, as it will result in a repair expense that you will be responsible for.

Cleaning
Your unit will be delivered in tip top shape, with everything freshly cleaned and all supplies stocked.  Amenities include: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap, dish soap, laundry detergent, fabric softener, linens and towels.  If you wish to have additional cleaning services during your stay, please contact us so we can make the appropriate arrangements.

Pool
The pool is in the courtyard, and has posted hours of operation (10am – 10pm).  Please do not use the pool after the posted hours, and be courteous of neighbors in regards to noise level while you swim/sun.

Alarm
Please do not try to arm, disarm, or adjust the alarm system during your stay.  In the event of an emergency, please call 911, or use the emergency call buttons on the alarm.  Please note that if you accidentally summon the police, fire department, or EMS, you will be responsible for paying the fees associated with such a call.

Local Attractions, Landmarks, and Things To Do

Austin sounds a little bit like Aston Martin, which is the type of car James Bond would drive.” – Mike Myers

Get ready to take it all in. You are steps from almost everything, and Austin has a lot to offer. Here is a quick guide that we created to help you get started. In addition to the suggestions listed below, here is a link to a local guide on Austin that I created for guests to use: Austin City Guide. Need more tips, let us know or follow us on Twitter.

Tours and Activities
If you are interested in doing something fun during your stay, please let us know what you are interested in doing, and we will take it from there!  Horse-drawn carriage rides, city tours, escape rooms, we know it all.

Airport Transfers
For airport transfers, there is a service called Capital Metro that runs every 30 minutes between the Austin Airport and the Austin Convention Center, which is located across the street from the Railyard Condominium complex on the corner of 4th and Trinity. The Airport Flyer costs $1.75, and it only makes a few stops in between the two destinations.  When you get to baggage claim on the lower level, step outside and follow the right pointing arrows that say Capital Metro.

Coffee
There is a Keurig coffee maker in the unit, along with a small selection of coffees and teas.  There are also a french press in the cabinet, and a handful of excellent coffee places nearby.  The closest coffee establishment is the Starbucks directly across the street, in the lobby of the Marriott.

Groceries and Booze
There is a Royal Blue Grocery less than a block away from the building on 3rd Street, just next door to the Uncle Julio’s Mexican food restaurant.  They have breakfast foods, snacks, coffee, and a small selection of beer and wine.  If you want to visit a liquor store, the closest one is Twin Liquors on 7th Street.  If you need a full grocery store, the Whole Foods flagship store is located between 5th and 6th Street on South Lamar Boulevard. Instacart is also available for grocery delivery. Click here to get $10 off your first order, as well as free delivery.

Room Service
While we don’t exactly offer room service, we have the next best thing. If you want food delivered from any Austin restaurant, Favor is the way to go. Simply download the app, order whatever you want, and they will bring it to you. Get your first delivery free by signing up here.

Restaurant Suggestions
In Austin, we love our food.  With so many places literally outside of the front door, it is hard to go wrong.  A few nearby options include: Fleming’s Steakhouse, Fogo de Chao, Piranha Sushi, Vince Young Steakhouse, Backspace, PF Changs, 200 Congress, La Condessa, Swift’s Attic, Champions Sports Bar, Annie’s, Eddie V’s, Iron Works BBQ, Swift’s Attic, Trace, Bob’s Chop House, and many more.  A few favorites include Parkside for oysters, Backspace for pizza, Lamberts for brunch, Perry’s for the pork chop, and Frank for a unique hot dog.  Please contact us for specific suggestions, and we will be glad to tell you about the latest and greatest places to visit.

You are staying in the very heart of downtown Austin, Texas.  You can walk to virtually everything, but taxis, pedicabs, and public transportation are also just outside of your door.  Some of the places to make sure to visit during your stay may include:

Town Lake
You can access Town Lake, the hike and bike trail, the rowing center, and other activities by walking just a few blocks south from the condo.  The Congress Bridge (bat bridge) is one of the first things you will see once you get there.  Be sure to go at dusk to watch the bats fly.

Rainey Street
This funky neighborhood has been converted into a series of bars and restaurants that occupy former bungalow-style houses.  There are some really interesting places here including Nova, Clive (be sure to check out the Mescal bar), and the Container Bar.  A few buildings have been torn down, making way for condos and retail, and you can easily walk here in about 5 minutes.

Historic 6th Street
This is the famous stretch of 6th Street that has made the city famous for our nightlife.  Think of it like Austin’s version of Bourbon Street, with all types of bars featuring live music, DJ’s, and even a mechanical bull.  The street is closed to vehicle traffic on weekends after 10pm, and holidays, and should not be missed.  The heart of the action is 2 blocks away.  If you want a unique experience on 6th, in the midst of the craziness, make a reservation to visit a speakeasy-style bar called Midnight Cowboy.  www.midnightcowboymodeling.com.  If you don’t want reservations, but want to try the experience, check out the Firehouse Lounge.  Be sure to enter through the Hostel Lobby for the best user experience.  Finally, if you have not heard of the Alamo Drafthouse, be sure to visit the “Ritz” on 6th to see a movie.  They do things a little differently, and the franchise has expanded nationwide.  Basically, they wait on you during the movie with a full bar, restaurant, and server at your beck and call.

West 6th Street
This stretch of 6th Street is walking distance, but may be better suited for a pedicab ride.  The bars and restaurants in this neighborhood cater to a slightly older crowd that historic 6th, and are more upscale.  That does not mean that it doesn’t get just and wild and crazy!  Plan for a 15-20 minute walk, or a 5 minute pedicab/taxi ride. A few favorites include The Ranch, Dogwood, and Rio, which is the only rooftop pool bar in Austin.

East 6th Street
Once you travel East of I-35, you are considered to be on the East side.  There a ton of cool places to visit over here, and you can easily make a night of it.  The East Side Showroom is a great place to have dinner or start the night with some craft cocktails.  A few favorite bars include Shangri-La, the Yellow Jacket Social Club, and the Violet Crown.

Warehouse District/2nd Street
Anchored by the W Hotel, and Austin City Limits music venue, this area has a lot to do from retail shopping, to fine dining and drinks.  Hangar is a fun place to drink on the roof, Cru wine bar is worth a visit, and the Violet Crown is a cool cinema with great food and cocktails to enjoy during the flick.  The heart of this neighborhood is about 5 blocks away.

South Congress
Just across the Congress Bridge is a whole different world from downtown.  As you walk up the street, you will find excellent restaurants, eclectic shopping, and plenty of entertainment.  Grab a slice of pizza at Home Slice, or site and enjoy an Italian dinner at Botticelli’s.  Afterwards, grab some ice cream or something sweet from a food truck and wander through the retail stores that range from costume shops to old-school candy stores, and everything in between.

Mount Bonnell
If you want to get an amazing perspective over Austin, the hill country, and Lake Austin, this is your spot.  The park closes at dusk, so be sure to plan accordingly.  Bug spray is recommended in the evenings, and there is a short hike to the vantage point, so wear comfortable shoes.  The climb is very easy, and only takes a few minutes.  There are also stairs, for those who prefer going that route.  Be sure to secure your valuables in the trunk of your car while parked.

Lake Austin
If you want to rent a boat to go out on Lake Austin, there are a few boat rental agencies.  Please call us for more information, or to check availability.  This lake maintains a constant water level, and has a few fun places to enjoy food and drinks including Abel’s on the Lake, Hula Hut, and Shakespeare’s.

Lake Travis
This lake is the product of the Mansfield Dam, which was built in 1937.  This 45-mile long lake is part of the Lower Colorado River, and is an amazing place to spend a day, at least.  Again, we can contact the boat rental agencies if you are looking for a rental.  This lake has a Carlos and Charlie’s, as well as the world-famous Oasis, which has one of the best views in Austin.

Unique Attractions
Without leaving town, we have a few things that I feel are worth mentioning because I am not sure that these attractions exist everywhere.  The first one is Top Golf.  If you have a golf fan in your group, and they have not heard of this, please do them a favor and take them.  It is fun for all ages, and you really don’t have to enjoy golf to have a good time with a group here.  Another unique place is called I Fly Away, and they feature indoor skydiving.  The last one to mention is called K1 Speed, and they feature an indoor go-cart track with electric vehicles that are super fast and do not pollute.  There are plenty of other unique attractions, and we are here to advise, if needed.

 The House Rules

You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else.” – Albert Einstein

We are not here to be a buzz kill. We don’t want to harp on any of the house rules, so your cooperation is incredibly appreciated. There aren’t a lot of rules (outside of the ones that simply require common sense), but the few that we have are important. If you have questions, please contact us.

Noise
Please note that this is a residential community, and be courteous when entering and exiting the building. Quiet hours are from 10pm to 7am, and sound carries through our courtyard style complex. To avoid noise violations being charged to your group, please keep your guests inside of the condo during the quiet hours. Keeping the windows and doors closed helps tremendously as these condos are well insulated. 99.9% of the infrequent issues we have had were the result of people being noisy in the common areas.

Trash
If you need to take the trash out during your stay, the dumpster is located at the center of the parking garage (big red door).  Please use this dumpster, and do not place any trash in the regular sized cans around the property or outside of the door to your unit.

Pool
We mentioned it before, but the pool hours are from 10am – 10pm. Outside of these hours, when the pool is closed, fines can be assessed by the HOA to any offending unit. These fines will be your responsibility, so please do us both a favor, and just don’t do it.

Parking
You should know your assigned parking space, and please be careful to grab the correct spot. If somebody is parked in your space, contact us and we will have the car removed. Please do not park in other spaces (unless specifically directed by our team) as your car may get towed. We cannot be responsible if this happens and do not want to receive that call.

Damage
Please be aware that you are responsible for your entire group, as well as the condo you have rented for the entire duration of your stay. While we rarely have problems, we do inspect the units before and after each booking for damage. Any repairs or replacement costs required within the condo or in the complex will be assessed to the primary rental tenant should they occur.
